What is this trip?
The 3 Day Shropshire Special is a self guided River Severn canoe trip designed for couples and friends who want a proper short adventure without having to organise every detail themselves.
You follow the river downstream through quiet Shropshire countryside, arriving into Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth over three manageable days.
We meet you at the start, provide the canoe and safety kit, give you a clear briefing, help with the route plan and stay available by phone or WhatsApp while you are on the river.
Why choose the 3 Day Shropshire Special?
A real journey in a long weekend
Three days is long enough to properly switch off and feel the rhythm of the river, but short enough to fit into a long weekend or midweek break.
Three classic river towns
The route links Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, giving you quiet water, heritage, places to eat and easy town finishes along the way.
Simple logistics
We handle the canoe, kit, hosted launch, route guidance and transport to the start and from the finish, so you can focus on the adventure.
Good first multi day trip
This is a strong choice if you have done some paddling before or want a supported first step into a multi day canoe holiday.
The journey: Crew Green to Bridgnorth
This journey starts on the upper River Severn near the Welsh border and follows the river through one of its best short adventure sections.
You begin in open countryside, paddle into Shrewsbury’s famous river loop, continue through the wooded Ironbridge Gorge and finish near Bridgnorth.
The route gives you the feeling of travelling somewhere properly, without the bigger time commitment of the full 5 or 7 day Big Severn Adventure.
Best for
- Couples wanting an active long weekend
- Friends looking for a short UK adventure
- First time multi day paddlers who want clear support
- People who like rivers, towns, pubs, wildlife and simple logistics
Day by day
Day 1: Crew Green to Shrewsbury
We meet you at the launch, get you settled with the canoe and kit, then send you downstream with a clear plan for the day.
The first day eases you into the journey with open countryside, steady paddling and a town finish in Shrewsbury.
Day 2: Shrewsbury to Ironbridge
This is one of the most rewarding sections of the trip, with changing scenery, quiet reaches and the approach into Ironbridge Gorge.
Finish in one of Shropshire’s most famous river towns, with time to eat, wander or simply rest after the day on the water.
Day 3: Ironbridge to Bridgnorth
The final day keeps the journey moving through wooded banks and quieter countryside before finishing near Bridgnorth.
It still feels like a proper final stage, but leaves enough time to head home the same day.

Questions
3 Day Canoe Trip FAQ
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes, for many active beginners this is a good first multi day canoe trip. You should be comfortable being outdoors for several hours a day and happy following a simple river plan. We provide the canoe, kit, briefing and support.
How much paddling is involved each day?
Most days are usually around four to five hours on the water, depending on flow, weather, stops and your pace. The route is planned to feel achievable rather than rushed.
Can we stay in B&Bs instead of camping?
Yes. This route works well with camping, B&Bs or a mix of both. Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth give useful overnight options, and we can talk you through what normally works best.
Where does the trip start and finish?
The usual journey is Crew Green to Bridgnorth via Shrewsbury and Ironbridge. Exact start and finish details can vary depending on river levels, logistics and the conditions at the time.
What happens if river conditions are unsuitable?
River safety comes first. If conditions are not suitable, we will talk through the realistic options with you. That may mean adjusting the plan, changing timings or moving the trip where needed.
Can we bring a dog?
Dogs may be possible on some trips, but it depends on the dog, your experience and the accommodation plan. Ask before booking so we can advise properly.
How do we enquire?
Use the date checker on this page, send a WhatsApp message, or email us. WhatsApp is usually the quickest way to start the conversation.
